Peach boy Riverside is a Fantasy, shounen TV series animated by the studio Asahi Production, surprisingly I have never seen an anime series by them before, maybe I’ll give it a try.
It is based on a manga written and illustrated by Coolkyousinnjya who is also the author of Miss Kobayashi’s dragon maid, and omg I am a huge fan.
Synopsis
The story is about a princess who was dethroned and roamed the outskirts of the city looking for a lone traveler who saved her kingdom from a vicious monster known as “Oni” with his mysterious peach eye.
Little does she know, there is a power hidden within her, perhaps another peach eye?
The story unravels as her adventures begin with a demihuman named Frau who is quite skilled at fighting monsters.
My thoughts
I’d say this show started out very amazing. It is definitely going to be a hit, I can only hope that they don’t use cheap anime cliches to keep this show going.
The mystery behind the powerful peach eye intrigues me, I am quite curious to know about it.
There are definitely a few anime like Peach boy Riverside which will give you similar vibes.
Here are my favorite 9 anime similar to Peach Boy Riverside.
9. How to Not Summon a Demon Lord
- Genre: Harem, Comedy, Fantasy, Ecchi
- Episodes: 10+
Just amazing and pure joy, I believe sometimes this show takes fanservice a bit far but with an enjoyable story and funny characters, I forgive it.
It is definitely a show worth watching, also I haven’t gotten around to watching the 2nd season, I should start this week.
Why it’s similar
We have a really strong MC who is summoned into another world by two mages while in Peach Boy Riverside we see a dark side of normal humans giving a hint of a strong demonic power that resides within her.
Both shows have demihumans and in both of them, our MC paired with some non-humans have to go around defeating monsters.
Synopsis
Our protagonist Diablo is summoned into a magical game world where he is an overpowered demon lord, according to him he is teleported into a game he used to play every day.

8. Bofuri
- Genre: Action, Game, Comedy, Fantasy
- Episodes: 12
I’m gonna admit, when I first started to watch this show, I was quite disappointed because I had hoped it would be an action anime but instead it turned out to be a pure comedic adventure.
Which isn’t really all that bad
Why it’s similar
We have a really strong female lead who isn’t really aware of her power and who by pure luck unlock it.
There are some comedic value in both of the series where Bofuri is all about it and Peach boy Riverside has its moments.
Synopsis
There is a new VR MMO that has everyone riled up, our MC maple being forced by her friend joins the game and begins to play. She doesn’t like to be hurt in the game so she gives all her points to her defense which makes her immune to almost everything.
7. I’ve Been Killing Slimes for Over 300 Years
- Genre: Comedy, Fantasy, Slice of Life
- Episodes: 12
Probably one of the most laid-back shows I have ever seen after “Tanaka-Kun is always listless”. I have so much fun watching this, every episode was so enjoyable.
The shows are very much different in terms of the overall tone of the show, I suppose Peach boy Riverside can be the darker version of this.
Why it’s similar
We have a weak and young female lead who later comes in a great power which will change her life forever for the good or worse.
We have a similar character dynamic where the female lead meets a non-human being who wants to be close to her.
Synopsis
We have a female office worker who is done with her day-to-day schedule of office work that she one days gets exhausted and dies. She then is reincarnated as an immortal witch in an alternative universe where magic exists and magical beings.
6. Overlord
- Genre: Fantasy, Magic, Supernatural
- Episodes: 30+
I am in love with this show so much that I will choose this as my fav Isekai anime. My favorite part is the character development Ainz goes through to become a ruthless being who stops caring about human lives.
Why it’s similar
We have a very similar frail weak Main character who one day comes across a great which will change their life forever.
The Character is ridiculously overpowered but somehow keeps the power hidden until they can properly control it.
Also, there are magical beasts and demihumans.
Synopsis
Overlord is about a who guy who one day wakes up inside the game he used to play with his friends, wherein that world they are known as the ‘Supreme Beings’ who are incredibly powerful and control the army of the undead
5. Rising of The Shield Hero
- Genre: Action, Comedy, Drama
- Episodes: 25
Probably the most successful Isekai anime of 2019 which ended already had seasons 2 and 3 announced. I personally enjoyed it a lot. The story was good, the characters were not so good but overall a good show.
Why it’s similar
We have a somewhat similar Isekai world where the main character is dethroned by either being a hero or a princess.
Both shows have demihumans and they come along with the main character one way or the other.
Synopsis
One day four great heroes are summoned into a strange world where they are given a special weapon which they represent. Their job is to fight the evil waves and protect the world before it is taken over by the darkness.
But those aren’t all the hardships our Shield hero has to face.
4. Cautious Hero
- Genre: Comedy, Fantasy, Adventure
- Episodes: 12
Can I say that I absolutely love this anime and this will always have a special place in my heart. It was like Konosuba if Konosuba had a strong male lead.
The characters were so amusing and the story was decent which made the show totally worth it.
Why it’s similar
There is a hint of the characters being somewhat similar to one another, with their personalities and even looks.
There is a hoard of monsters always coming to destroy humankind and our hero steps in to save the day.

3. That Time I Got Reincarnated As Slime
- Genre: Adventure, Comedy, Action
- Episodes: 25+
Our loveable and most adorable slime is the best. It’s one of the best Isekai anime of all time according to me, at first I was a bit doubtful about this but after the first few episodes, I immediately fell in love.
Why it’s similar
We have a really strong main character who isn’t really aware of their powers until but they are so overpowered compared to anyone else.
Our Mc befriend so many demihumans and beasts, even creating a village where only the demihumans reside.
They are constantly faced with troublesome monsters and deal with them.
Synopsis
Rimuru tempest is a slime who is transported to a different place when he was brutally stabbed to death in the middle of the day on the street, his last words were “please delete my browser history”.
Rimuru is a slime with limitless possibilities which he will later discover on his adventures.
2. Gleipnir
- Genre: Action, Supernatural, Ecchi
- Episodes: 12
I suppose Gleipnir did at one time become really popular among the anime community but I think it was because of the daring female lead Clair Aoki who rocked the show.
Why it’s similar
We have a proper female lead who is on a path and is determined and both of them meet a somewhat non-human living creature who is strung along with them.
I’d say the overall vibe of the show is quite different from one another but the character dynamic is somewhat similar. Both characters are paired up and fight monsters together.
Synopsis
The story follows a young boy named Shuichi who is a timid young fellow who just wants to enjoy a normal life like he used to ever since he got these strange powers which let him transform into this strange living costume kind of thing.
He has done well to keep this power hidden until he sees a girl inside burning and uses his powers to save her.
1. One Punch Man
- Genre: Action, Comedy, Superheroes
- Episodes: 12+
You like strong anime characters who can defeat anyone with a single hit. Saitama was just what I expected and I expected it to be just a comedic show about a man who will be strong enough to destroy his own planet he lives on but will never be recognized.
Why it’s similar
- There is a very strong MC who is able to destroy any living monster with just a flick of his wrist.
- Both shows have monsters who constantly attack humankind and want to destroy them.
- Our MC is paired up with an excellent fighter who is sometimes a bit too much to handle.
